Read an article about the Revangelise Gospel Missions from the Evangelical Times…
The major cities of England once flourished with evangelism. Active street preachers, evangelistic tracts and Bible-believing chapels and churches attempted to bring the gospel to the urban residents crowding the streets of industrialised cities. Sadly, some of the major cities in the UK are now largely unevangelised in comparison to the past. With populations that have dramatically risen over the last fifty years and with many active churches that have dwindled and even closed, there is a great need for evangelism for this generation. For this reason, the Crown Christian Heritage Trust has established the Revangelise Gospel Mission Project. The Trust has been able to use venues in Hull, Nottingham, Oxford, Liverpool, Birmingham and Manchester to conduct gospel missions to bring the Word of God again to city centres of England.
Inspired by Dr and Mrs Brian Green's first gospel mission in Northern Ireland, the Trust followed their pattern of having a children's gospel mission in the afternoon, with a meeting for adults in the evening. God has blessed the recent Liverpool Revangelise meeting with over 30 children attending as well as others from the local community joining from over 7,000 invitations that were distributed in the weeks before the event. The latest mission was held in Manchester, not far from the site of the recent terror attack. Thousands of gospel leaflets and mission invitations were distributed in the city centre as well as many preparatory days of open air preaching, door-to-door work and personal witness on the streets. God blessed with visitors coming into the meetings and the gospel was clearly preached by young men who are training in Christian ministry. The children's gospel mission was used to bring in many young people from the area that had never heard the gospel. Their parents were desirous to see a children's work begin on a weekly basis so that they could learn more about God. A venue to hold gospel clubs for the children on subsequent Saturdays has been hired as several sets of parents have been faithfully sending 10-13 children to hear the Word of God taught to them. Please pray for the children of Manchester city centre as many of them need a faithful gospel witness.
Far from desiring to have a 'hit and run' approach to evangelism, the Revangelise Project is attempting to work with sound local churches and encourage those reached through the missions to attend them where available. Young people training at Crown Hall in Droitwich take part in leafleting as well as open-air ministry and testifying at the gospel missions. The Crown Hall GAP year graduates have been preaching the gospel both on the streets and in the mission services as well.
Please pray for this outreach ministry as believers are seeking to bring the gospel once again to Revangelise the major cities of England. If you live near a city in which a Revangelise mission occurs, we would be thankful to have you attend and engage in outreach with other Christian workers.
