The Crown Christian Heritage Trust is grateful to have its headquarters at Crown Hall situated in beautiful Worcestershire just outside Droitwich. With flexible accommodation and several acres of property, it provides an ideal base as a launch for fulfilling the aims of the charity.
Our Purpose Today’s society presents a great need for Christian workers to be trained to take the gospel to the United Kingdom and around the world. Who will be the pastors, church planters, and Sunday School teachers to reach the coming generation? At Crown Hall, we seek to have a part in trainingservants of the Lord. ‘The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourersare few.’ (Matthew 9v37) Please pray with us that the Lord of the Harvest would send labourers from this nation. Training to Equip The peaceful countryside surrounding Crown Hall lends itself to learning. Opportunities to grow in practical ways are provided as trainees work, study, and enjoy meals together whilst receiving daily instruction in a pleasantclassroom setting. On weekends, students then travel to local churches across the country, putting into practice lessons learned in the week. |

'Spurgeon's College'
Though Charles Haddon Spurgeon never attended Bible college himself, he was an ardent supporter of training young people in gospel ministry. He referred to the Bible college he founded as ‘My life’s work, to which I believe God has called me.’ He also stated, ‘andtherefore I must do it. To preach the gospel myself, and to train others to do it, is my life’s object and aim.’ The work did not grow out of any scheme: ‘It grew out of necessity.’ The importance he attached to adequate training for the ministry may be judged by the sacrifices he made to secure it. At one point, he offered to sell his carriage and horses to pay thenecessary expenses. He trained ‘hot gospelers’ who spoke the language of the heart. Their palpable sincerity and undying zeal attracted hearers. The young disciples of Mr. Spurgeon proceeding from his college baptised converts right and left. ‘Begin with speed, with fire, with learning and live to save men now.’ When academics maligned the large number and intellectual quality of men being sent out after finishing their studies, Spurgeon responded, ‘the muffs are the men who will preach; if you do not educate them, they will be worsethan ever.’ Though criticised by detractors for their lack of academic scholarship, Spurgeon’s students gathered crowds and filled empty churches. New churches were built and zealous gospel preaching flourished. Not only were young men trained up for gospel work inEngland but students went on to take the fire of gospel evangelism to nearly every continent.
